1. Tell us a little bit about you I entered the computer scene in 1992 with an Amiga 500. Nice part for demos and computer games, but otherwise did not read much. At the end of 1993 I bought an AT 286 with 1 MB Ram and a CGA monitor. The thing was really slow shoot, but still very cool. ;) Shortly thereafter I was introduced to the world of BTX Cyberspaces by a friend, Pascal and asm began to learn to coden demos and hack every now and then. To be honest, I was never very good at that. Probably because I was always too impatient for a hacker and could not wait for anything. ; 1994 In 1994, I got an AT 486 DX / 2, with which I then really only coded demos, Mods edited and spent the rest of the time with computer games. 2. How did you come up with the name Nightmare Joker? I love all sorts of black humor and that is supposed to convey "Nightmare Joker". Unlike many other coders who have stolen their pseudonyms from any hero, I put together my own pseudo myself. When it comes to my pseudonym, I can become quite arrogant and vain. )) 3. How did you get into the VX scene? At the end of 1994 a friend sent me DOOM 1 (still one of my favorite games:]) Well, in any case, not only DOOM 1 was on the discs, but also the cute little Cascade virus. Since I called virus scanner until then rather than superfluous and memory-eating, the thing spread enormously. I think there was no COM and EXE file on the HD and almost all discs that was not infected. Heheh. Well, in any case, I suddenly had system crashes all of a sudden, eventually scanned the HD with Thunderbyte AV and was at first pretty shocked, as well as everything was infected. After I got over the first shock, curiosity seized me and I began to disassemble some of the infected files. Somehow it was totally interesting and cool to see how the thing worked and without problems "silently" could infect my whole HD. After this incident, I then began to collect viruses, dissect and improve my asm skills. In 1995, when the Concept Virus appeared and cursed quickly spread, I switched to WordBasic and almost completely decomposed and coded macro viruses. In September 1996 I founded together with Neophyte and The Underground Prophet the new VX group "SLAM". Actually, it was planned to be the first macro virus coder group in the world, but after The Underground Prophet and Neophyte disappeared after the first mag and I honestly did not feel like giving up the new group, I also recorded some non-macro coders and so a pretty good "allround" group developed. What fascinates you about viruses? Initially, it was still a fascination with the many possibilities of virus programming and after a while only the existing development war between the antivirus companies and the VX coders. In principle, a kind of second "Cold War". One side develops and the other one surpasses it. Will somebody ever win? 5. Why have you been away from the VX scene for a long time? After the end of 1996, in almost every CHIP and PC world, and damn many other magazines my viruses appeared, I'm honestly a little nervous. Once you see one of your own viruses in a magazine, it's really cool and you're really happy about it, but if it happens too often and you get too much attention, you can get a lot bigger and I did not feel like it. 6. Why did you leave the SLAM group and set up your own group (SOS)? I was away from the group for almost one and a half years and did not want to just burst in there and say: "Hey, here I am again - everything stops at my command!" ;) In any case, the group is now a bit too inactive to waste my time as a waiting member. Well, starting a new group was not difficult. When I got out of SLAM back then, a few other coders also stopped. Friendship? Loyalty? No idea why they did that. In any case, a few were immediately ready to join the new group. Thanks again to the new pseudo's Beckmann and Dimensional Axiom. ;O I just want to be a member of a good active group and that's why I have started my own group again. 7. What would be your biggest wish in terms of virus writing? My biggest wish? Hm ... connect a virus to a neural network! To the question "What is the meaning of life?" he would definitely with "23" answers. heheh 8. Which AV scanner do you use? Normally always AVP and F / WIN 32. 9. Do you also hack or do you write more viruses? In the past I often hacked mail or rather played with Telenet. :) But that was a long time ago and now I only code viruses. 10. Tell us more about your group SOS "In the Sign of Scream" is actually a normal allround group. The only difference with other groups is perhaps the fact that we have absolutely no rules regarding the content of the viruses. Anyone can conjure up ALL DESTROYING payloads or even dancing pink pigs on my screen. The only thing we ask for is the [SOS] sign inside the viruses or Trojans. The spread of viruses is not punished with us. I myself have not spread any of my almost 50 viruses (some have not even released) yet and will not do so in the future. And if a madman downloads one of my viruses from my homepage and spreads it around the world, I'll be wrong. Incidentally, the members of our group are: The Wombat (second leader), Dimensional Axiom, dr. Beckmann, Pflorik, ULTRAS, VeiN, Flitnic, VPAM, Ruiner, ZeMacroKiller98, Lord Arz and WaTeR WiSdom. Incidentally, our first magazine will be out soon. Check it out here: http://www.sourceofkaos.com/homes/njoker/index.html 11. Do you also come together in person with other VX writers? No, I have never done so far. Somehow I also do not like the "public" aspect of a personal meeting. 12. Which programming languages do you know? Basic's (Qbasic - Power Basic, WordBasic, Asic, Visual Basic, VBA and some other small Basic languages), Pascal, Assembler, a little Ada and a few script languages. Actually, I only use the Basic languages. 13. What do you think the viruses of the future look like? Everyone will probably try to jump on the VBScript or Java pull now, but once the browsers get protection, the fun will soon be over. The only variety of viruses that I predict a "long" future for are the Win32.HLL viruses in general. Easy to code and just as easy to adapt to new conditions. Normal Win95 / 98 / NT ASM viruses are of course even better, but very hard to code for. Well, we'll see what the future holds. 14. Who do you want to greet everything? Almighty move your ass back to #vir Aristotle working now for M. Ludwig?
